Re: Ridley Scott promises 'tough' Alien prequel

Can't find a link, but didn't I read somewhere that this film will not actually feature the Alien?

Re: Total Recall movie 'to be remade'

Thanks for the link - if I get my act together I'll follow it up. Don't worry about enquiring on my behalf - at the moment all I have is just a half-formed idea about swibbles and/or interrogating time travellers in general. I can but ask, what would you be planning with regards to it? If I contact ...

Re: Total Recall movie 'to be remade'

Sorry for the double post but I went to see if I could ask about the rights to the short story and the PKD trust sold all rights to the story when the original movie was made. I'll have to approach the studio who made the original movie which seems less likely to say yes than the PKD trust were...i...

Re: Total Recall movie 'to be remade'

Not that I thought Total Recall was brilliant but it has it's place in movie history and a remake seems redundant. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by it but I doubt it, I'd much rather see a short based more on the original story. Anyone else up for that? If we time it to release at the same tim...

Re: Most preachy film?

Have to say while the original Day The Earth Stood Still is an awesome and original film, the preaching in it is pretty crude too - both the Christian and the anti-nuke pro-UN messages are all but delivered straight to camera. Incidentally I haven't got round to either the remake or the mockbuster v...

Re: Star Trek: Take 2

Perhaps slightly too early if only because of Leonard Nimoy's own appearance in the film - he's very much a part of this re-imagining and is still bringing new things to the role himself; but I agree with you about Zachary, his performance is extraordinary and by far the best thing about the film.

Kettles film

Trying to remember the name of an SFL48-2009 entry I particularly enjoyed featuring some artificially intelligent kettles. Can anyone help me out, and is their film on youtube? Thanks.

Re: New Red Dwarf coming to Dave this year

Episode 1: funny in places, overall a bit slow and seemed pointless. Episode 2: let's not go there. Episode 3: reassuringly funny, well written (liked the Blade Runner influence) and well made - no longer seems pointless.

Re: Hellboy II – one of the best sequels?

I thought there was a lot to enjoy in Hellboy II despite the repetitive punching fight sequences - scenes like the troll market or the stand-off with the earth god were captivating; the clockwork army itself was cool; and they thawed out Luke Goss from cryogenic suspension (almost successfully). Seq...

...or the fate of the companions?

How about pairing celebrity companions e.g. Lily Allen with professional actors?

Re: ''VOYAGE'' to Mars

This sounds like the radio adaptation of Stephen Baxter's novel, it was broadcast on radio 4 a long time ago and you could get it on BBC audio CD or cassette (remember those?) The book - and this adaptation - are both awesome.

48-hour competition

Looking forward to SFL 2009. Have the dates for this year's 48-hour competition been decided yet?
