true, The Lance is cool, but then it is technically a weapon and not a gun, which is important because if we were doing weapons then the Lightsabre would win hands down, end of story!

true, there will always be far more superior weapons in terms of pure power than the lightsabre, but for me that isnt what being the "best" is all about.

Its about the thing itself being great in its own right.

For me an "elegant weapon, from a more civilised age" is just the most stylish way of deflecting bullets or loping someones arm off in a bar that I can think of. And in the end, isnt that what its all about :D !

Do the Gunblades from Final Fantasy 7 count? They're pretty cool.

I guess they do!

Bit of a hybrid weapon that one, is it a gun, is it a blade (no its a gunblade!)? But I think we can definitely add it to the guns/weapons wish list.

(this also opens up the possibility of more Sci-Fi guns from Videogames; BFG's and Farsights anyone?)

Cool. The farsight should definately go in. With the fact it can look through walls AND has an automatic target sensor.

The BFG, well, it's been a long time since I used one. There is a pretty sweet 'pulse rifle' in DOOM3 which is useful for killing flying, flaming skulls. It is cool, but is it cool enough for this list? Probably not. When I get a BFG in DOOM3 I'll let you know. It's always in the last place you look.

What about Megatron? A gun AND a Giant robot! Crazy...

Wow, Megatron, I'd completely forgotten!

I was always slightly confused, was Megatron a giant robot who turned into a really big gun or a standard sized gun which turned into a small robot, or both?

I guess the message here is;

guns - evil
large trucks/lorrys - good!

(Gun makers of the world take note!)
