Sunshine?....it is a splendid shiney noisey atmospheric movie..needs to be seen on the BIG screen
suspend disbelief and go for it...you really do need to suspend credible thoughts ..BUT it is worth it
no spoilers here..but cillian murphy is eye candy again...and a good actor...
Sunshine doesnt stand up to scientific scrutiny, just enjoy!! :p more a human story? with a bomb they dont really need with bits of 2001 and alien etc..., BUT still nice and shiney
Sunshine is a real treat for the senses...:)

Sunshine - BEST FILM I'VE SEEN IN AGES!!!

Greetings,

I'll try not to give any spoilers, but I may, sorry.

I saw Sunshine recently and am still mulling it over. The things I liked about it were the 'lo-fi' stuff, the fact that space travel takes a long time, the SCIENCE of science fiction (as demonstrated in WMWN's post concerning why the sun is dying (although that wasn't explained in the film). The majority of deaths are caused not by aliens/robots/etc but by human error or suicide. This is a slightly strange subject matter as there are a lot of suicides in the film. The psychology of being alone in space and the sun, looking at Mercury was also very cool. I was pleased by the Alex Garland script as well, people for the majority of the time spoke realistically (for their situation!).

But of course, in many ways this is another riff on the 'event horizon'/Alien theme and being horror, sometimes people have to do dumb things to make the story interesting. The final reel kinda ruined it a bit, attempting to give it a blockbuster ending which was contrary to the feel of the rest of the film as a spooky, dark, emotional film.

All in all, I liked it, worth seeing :)

hearing a lot of different reviews of this - seems to be polarising people something chronic. two reviews from papers here - seems to sum it up fairly well..
