Sci-Fi Reading Groups

Post by cassandra » Wed Jan 16, 2008 7:27 am

I missed this (although I wouldn't be eligible as a South Londoner)
Does anyone know about any other similar opportunities to meet up with others who are interested in sci-fi? I've been attending the film festival for years now and keeping an eye on this forum but it is rather quiet.

Or we could simply create our own :)

The Tate Library in Streatham, London SW16, has a well-established graphic novel reading group. If you are interested in joining this, its next meeting is on Monday January 21 at 7pm. Contact Pedro by e-mail pgalvao@lambeth.gov.uk or phone him on 020 7926 8034.

The library said it would run a sci-fi/fantasy reading group if it got enough interest.

Of course, we could always use this forum for an online reading group. Someone picks a book and then everyone posts their thoughts. Not quite the same as a face-to-face group but the concept is the same. Alternatively those on Skype could set up a conference call or group chat, although these do tend to tie everyone down to fixed time. Anyone else think this is a viable possibility?

I'd be up for a reading group - I'm crap at choosing what to need read next, so any help is gratefully received...

Bah, I need to learn that this is year is 2009 and not reply to old posts...
But anyways, anyone up for a reading group?

Meh sounds like a good idea i'm sh*t at picking what to read. Also it would allow me to have something to do other than constantly refreshing my face book page to see if anything has been updated.
