We obviously now know about the MST3K Allnighter (yippeee!). But thought I'd also start a new thread for other ideas about what to show (old and new) at the next SFL.

I've heard good things about the new British film "Evil Aliens", shown recently at FrightFest. Could be worth a look. Anyone seen it yet?

I quite fancy a Terry Gilliam all-nighter, although narrowing down which one's to show would be tricky. Brazil, The Fisher King, Twelve Monkeys and Brothers Grimm would give a pretty good spread, although missing out Time Bandits would be a shame. Maybe I should do a DVD test run over the weekend and see if I survive with all my faculties intact.

I'm slightly afraid to ask Shinji, but what kind of stuff would you have?
:)

Perhaps a Gilliam allnighter could be; Brazil, Twelve Monkeys, Time Bandits and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen?

Also, given that he's just agreed to release his movies on DVD, perhaps one day we might be able to have a Roger Corman allnighter? :~

Ah, in fact Appleseed HAS been screened here in London before.

It had a limited arthouse release last year, and - in fact - London was where Appleseed was first screened anywhere in the world at a top-secret world-sneak-preview at the ICA back in 2004.

And it was awesome. Fumihiko Sori was there and the Boom Boom Satellites played live.

Advent children sounds like a good idea, but you'd have to find out who has the distribution rights.

There's so much anime out there now, the choice is vast for the allnighter.

Oh, don't forget to sort out the air con, make sure the Red Bull and Ben & Jerry's are up to supply, get ADV to give out more freebies, and no more croissants. They were awful.

Try and get Terratag involved on this one, too. You can't do an event like this without him these days. NEO could play a dab hand too, maybe.

Steamboy sounds like a great idea.

"make sure the Red Bull and Ben & Jerry's are up to supply"

Actually I think that we still had some Red Bull left last year, though most of it was the sugar-free stuff - which people tended to avoid - and who can blame them? ~_~

As ideas go, I wonder if there's any chance of getting a showing of A Boy And His Dog at SFL5?

I saw this film a while back - based on a recommendation in SFX - and really liked it!

If you like your post-apocalyptic movies funny and bleak, then this is definitely worth a watch - based on a Harlan Ellison novella - need I say more!

When i'm trying to convince my friends to come to anime all-nighter, they're all like "Yeah that sounds really good but i don't know."
So i inform them of the Ben And Jerry's.
And they ask me where they can buy tickets.

What i think would be awesome, is if the anime-all-nighter got so big and popular, they had to split it into different genres of anime.
And for nothing like Lady Death to ever been shown ever ever again.

Sure the initial choice is vast, but what about the choice of stuff thats actually up to scratch? Stuff that isn't following the same old recepie, not so much.
