Why the move to the Apollo?
I quite like the Curzons but admittedly I don't think I've been to the Apollo so can't compare the two until tomorrow. Just being nosey really, why has the festival moved to the Apollo?

Why the move to the Apollo?
One of the main reasons was to show all the films in one venue. The Apollo has five screens, and although they are smaller salons than those of previous years, they are very luxurious. The Apollo is also the only fully licensed cinema in the West End, which means you can take your beer or whatever with you into the film. The downside, for the punters, is they shows sell out quicker (which is good for us), as we have seen with the anime all-nighter, although the two screens used for the anime still amount to the same number of seats as the one screen at the Curzon. The Apollo really is luxury cinema at its best and what our patrons deserve, as you will see.
Also, being in one venue means a better chance to mingle, and although it is not as cold the January/February dates of previous years, there is no running between cinemas to get to the next screening, which is better for everyone.
The festival kicks off (or should that be lifts-off) tonight. See you sometime over the weekend and enjoy the films and the atmosphere.

Why the move to the Apollo?
Thanks for the replies, I'm looking forward to checking out the Apollo over the next few days.
On the subject of licencing, I was in the Curzon on Shaftsbury Avenue last week and you could take your booze in the screen so the Apollo can't be the only fully licenced cinema.
Oh and while I'm on a Q&A mission, why is the festival so much later this year?

It would be good to meet some others; I'll be the tall redhead attending the screening of La Peau Blanche. Stick your neck out and say hello at your own perilOriginally posted by The Editor

The licensing laws have changed since we first approached the Apollo, and not being a partaker of alcohol, or a frequenter of West End cinemas I was not aware of the changes. Now I will have to change my signature (maybe).Originally posted by cassandra

And, as Shinji said, regarding the change of dates.

Why the move to the Apollo?
I'll be the 5'5" guy in the black leather jacket, possibly with a white t-shirt with "Church of GODZILLA Praise The Lord" written on it. Long brown hair possibly in the ponytail and glasses (which I have started wearing sincethe last one and find it helps with being able ot see the screen)
Why the move to the Apollo?
I'll be the second headless chicken looking after the first headless chicken
Why the move to the Apollo?
I'll be the 5'5" guy looking far younger than he actually is, probably in jeans and some kind of light blue t-shirt, long dark brown hair tied back. Accompanied by my girlfriend (hands off), who knows what she'll be wearing... yeesh.

You've got to keep control of her but chopping off her hands seems a little harsh.

Why the move to the Apollo?
I'll be the one with the MST3K t-shirt with crow-t-robot on the back saying 'You know you want me baby!' from about midday saturday, no prises for guessing the all nighter I'm going for!
