intresting line up thogh i totaly agree with a UK premier of Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society
As for the other 3 sugestions you made ill have to look into them first but I probbly go there and sugest that Advent children be stuck in the line up agine as many people still want to see this on the big screen thogh in the case of Witchlade all i see is the livew acshion virshion and i do know about the anime virshion but i think ill have to look into it more but i recomend a now if its anythign like the live acshion one

Witchlade ?? Is this the ultraviolent cartoon porn we read about in the news Shinji?
Although I love Laputa I would shy away from it in the marathon (personaly) because I've seen it so many times.
It is my hope next year that the Manga and MST3k Marathons could be run on alternate nights so I could attend both. Then ~z~ ~z~

Frankly I prefer to see a rough Print than an SD DVD, now High Def projection I'm fine with.
It's so hard to say what they should have, becuase what I like to see at these things is stuff I haven't seen.
Maybe an all-nighter of Minoru Kawasaki's Films.

If you run another MST3K all nighter, what are the odds on Friday night this year? I work Sunday morning and last year was pretty ugly. (Worth it though. Definitely worth it.)

Please get hold of a print of Tarkovsky's "Stalker" - one of the few true sci-fi films in my opinion and a total masterpiece of course.

Hi timdrage, and welcome to the forum!
Unless I'm very much mistaken, SFL actually showed "Stalker", in its very first year!
But you never know, it may get a repeat!
And I agree, it is a great film (the long panning shots, in particular, are amazing!).
And also, in a completely unrelated matter, I've just had another idea for a double bill SFL could do; How about "28 Days Later", and "Children Of Men"?!
Anyway, just thought I'd put that out there!

OK. Deffinatley give us Air Gear and Solid State Society.

Right, I can't really agree with some of these suggestions for the anime night.
To start with Advent Children, showing the same film two years in a row would be a slight overkill. Also, it was a huge crowd pull because it was shown before the UK DVD release. Anyone who wants to see it has probably watched it many dozens of times over at home. Sorry, but that's not really in the spirit of the festival to show the same thing twice in a row.
The following items are series, and therefore unsuitable for both the big screen and a film festival all-nighter.
- Witchblade
- Kujibiki Unbalance
- Air Gear
- Black Lagoon
- Ray
- Blood (TV)
Evangelion is also a look to the past. The London Sci-Fi Film Festival screened the premiere of End quite a few years ago. Also, there are many people who haven't seen the series, so... well, that's self-explainitory.
If you indeed mean the NEW Eva movies, they'd have to be a separate item, and I bet Gainax are raring to make a TON of money from them, so they would be waaaaay too expensive for the Sci-Fi-Film Festival to screen. They won't be out by May, that's for sure.
However, I think Earthsea and Paprika are great ideas.
What the anime allnighter needs is a mix of the following -
Something CLASSIC - in the past we have had GITS, Akira, Patlabor. Maybe Ninja Scroll ("It's not that you're not allowed to use your hands; you just can't!"), Dominion, Macross or Riding Bean this time around.
Something NEW - Earthsea, Paprika, TankSwat, Mushishi, that one that did well at that French Festival, I forget what it was called...
Something RARE - Maybe Dead Leaves (would make a good DVD giveaway this year, Manga Ent....! or Interstella 5555.
And something inbetween. No more Lady Deaths, though...
Oh God, I just realised that we may have to put up with the second half of Karas this year, too. At least the loud noises woke people up for Advent Children.
A Japanese Cult night would be great, also.
Battle Royale, Oldboy, Public Enemy I & II, Public Affair, all these back to back. Tartan could easily make this happen, and provide prizes and giveaways.
