Well I for one woudl like to see....

If "Domu Life of a Child" was ever made into a film (i'm not sure if it has) I think it wold make an excellatn double bill with the directors super dooper edition of Akira. Yes I know Akira has been shown before but it is a fan fav.

Alternatively a double bill of Ghost in the Shell and the new Ghost in teh Shell 2 ( sorry I don't knwo the title) might draw in the die hards as well., as it's one of those movies which has visuals which scream "BIG SCREEN" IMO

Well the Matrix was indeaed based on Ghost in the Shell origanly how ever you realy need to try sitting down and waching some proper quality animes befor you can cast a jugment

Unforchantly a lot of people see the fact its a drawing then instantly think its a kids cartoon thogh they are far from it I would recomend people should sit down and wach some desent proper ones befor casting jugment

not ones such as Dragonball, Yugi, Pokeymon, digymon or something along them lines but instead pick up something like Cowboy Bepbop knocking on heavens door or Ninja Scrole

I would also recommend that you do not make assumptions about the anime to which I have been exposed. Quality aside there are very few movies that have been "ported" from their graphic format to live action, hence the list. I am more than aware of the more mature and less superficial anime that is out there.

likewise, tis so easily done sometimes though.

So what anime would you recommend to a casual viewer that typifies the current "best of" that is not series related?

I have seen Blood the last vampire

How about a Studio Ghibli all-nighter?

Ok Ok... I admit it... I finally go to see (Having been evangelised at during Talkaoke about Miyazaki) Spirited Away and was utterly blown away.

Need more...

I think he meant more Miyazaki films, there, Shin.

Titles like Castle in the Sky, Porco Rosso, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Princess Monoke.

Don't bother with The Cat Returns, though, it's not all that good. Especially the huge cat-penis tower. :~

Other Miyazaki films should be doable, seeing as they're mostly licensed by Buena Vista in this country.

A Miyazaki showcase may be a possiblity, but I'd like to see the majority of the films in the showcase supplied by ADV, MVM, and whatever company owns Manga Ent now.
