Has anyone else hear the new, that The OTHER Cinema closed down last Sunday 14th Nov. The reason given was low profits I believe.
Anyone have any thoughts on possible replacements. This is a great shame not just for how it might impact on sci-fi London, but also for the screening of independent films in London in general.

This is indeed a great shame.
Possible alternative venues have been suggested (see the "Featival Pass?" thread), but so far we have yet to hear any official news on a replacement to The Other Cinema for SFL.

Man, that's a heartbreaker.
I know the Ritzy in Brixton can be rented out and holds quite a few festivals. Too far out of the centre?

Well "The Ritzy" is a Picturehouse cinema, just like "The Other Cinema" was, so that might make things a lot easier for them to organise.
However, as you say, it would mean splitting the festival over quite a great distance, or alternatively moving the entire festival over there (which given that they have five screens and two digital projectors is perhaps not so far-fetched).
Personally I like The Ritzy, I've just never been that big a fan of Brixton!
