SFL: Lost Memories

Post by Roosta » Wed Dec 22, 2004 6:10 pm

In a reflective moment I thought I would put this thread up as an area where everyone could post their nostalgic (or otherwise) memories of festivals past and allnighters gone by.

for me, my strongest Sci-Fi-London memory so far has to be the "Aliens Allnighter" from SFL 1; the packed cinema at the Curzon on Saturday night, the breaks between films for redbull and ice-cream, meeting people from the other allnighters running at the same time, the whole place cheering after the line "get away from her you bitch!", and emerging (with some sense of achievement) back outside into the grey Sunday morning light after my first ever allnighter, with London looking like a disaster movie ghost town.
Magic!
"TO THE SPACE GUN!!!"

My one very strong memeory of the festival is seeing Avalon, i can't remeber which year it was one (the first year?), and nearly dying of heat exhaustion as i've never been in a cinema that got so incredibly hot before. Really thought i was going to have to go out of the cinema, but managed to tough it out and get through it.

Maybe they had the heating on, and coupled with the fact that the screening was packed, caused things to get a littled heated in there. Still had a good time though.

Never done any of the allnighters myself, i'm just totally unable to stay awake all night and i'd be alssep by the time the second film would start, though i'm tempted by the anime allnighter this year as i want to see Sky Blue and missed it at the LFF.

My strongest memory, the huge "and relax" feeling at the end :)
